Lending is where Listerhill's product list is broadest. Beyond the usual cards, car loans and mortgages, it lists loans for farm equipment, land and even boat docks, which not every institution offers. This chapter summarizes what is listed on the credit union's own website. These are Listerhill's products: Plain Ledger does not offer, arrange or broker credit of any kind, and this page is not an offer of credit. Availability, approval, rates and terms are decided by Listerhill Credit Union; check its official website for current information.
Credit cards
- Visa Signature Rewards, which the credit union presents as a rewards card.
- Visa Platinum, a second card option in the same family.
- Visa Keystone Signature and Visa Keystone Platinum, a separate card family the credit union presents among its options.
According to its website, the credit union describes its credit cards as having no annual fees, and it has advertised introductory 0% APR promotions on new cards. Promotions may change; confirm current availability, eligibility and terms directly with Listerhill. With any intro offer, check when the intro period ends, what the ongoing APR will be afterwards, and whether balance transfers carry a fee. Cards can be managed through a separate LCU Cards app, and rewards are redeemed through the credit union.
Vehicle loans
Listerhill Credit Union lists loans for new and used cars. It also lists participating dealerships, which means you may be able to arrange Listerhill financing at the dealer. Asking lenders directly for current terms before you shop can give you a benchmark to compare against dealer financing.
Personal loans and lines of credit
- Personal loans, a fixed amount repaid over a set term.
- Anytime Personal Line of Credit, a revolving line you can draw on as needed and repay, paying interest only on what you use.
Recreational and specialty loans
Listerhill also lists loans for new and used RVs, motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs, boats and personal watercraft, as well as farm equipment and lawnmowers or utility trailers.
Secured loans
Share-secured, certificate-secured and money-market-secured loans use money you already have on deposit as collateral. Terms, rates and approval requirements vary by lender and product. Check Listerhill's current disclosures for applicable terms. Some borrowers consider this type of product when building credit, but suitability depends on individual circumstances and the lender's terms, including whether and how payments are reported to credit bureaus.
Mortgages and home loans
Listerhill states that it is an Equal Housing Lender, and publishes its NMLS number as 439260. Home lending options listed on its website include:
- Fixed-rate mortgages
- Adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs)
- Short-term fixed mortgages
- Construction loans
- Land loans
- Boat dock loans
- Home equity lines of credit (HELOCs)
- Refinancing
With an ARM, the rate is fixed for an initial period and then adjusts at set intervals. Make sure you understand the adjustment schedule, the caps on each change and the maximum possible rate before comparing an ARM with a fixed-rate loan.
The credit union links to separate partner websites for some servicing tasks, such as managing a mortgage or making loan payments. Always reach those through listerhill.com rather than a search result or a message.
Pre-owned vehicles and foreclosures
Listerhill publishes listings of repossessed vehicles and foreclosed properties it is selling. These can be worth a look if you're shopping for a used vehicle or property in the area.
How to compare loan offers
- Compare APR, not just the interest rate. APR includes certain fees and gives a better picture of the yearly cost.
- Look at the total cost, not the monthly payment. A longer term lowers the payment but usually raises the total interest you pay.
- Ask about prepayment. Can you pay the loan off early without a penalty?
- Know what is securing the loan. If a vehicle, home or savings account is collateral, you could lose it if you don't repay.
- Check whether the rate is fixed or variable. Variable rates can rise.
Example: how the term changes the total cost
The table below shows a hypothetical $20,000 loan at a hypothetical 6.00% APR, with no fees, repaid over different terms.
| Term | Monthly payment | Total interest paid |
|---|---|---|
| 36 months | $608.44 | $1,903.79 |
| 48 months | $469.70 | $2,545.63 |
| 60 months | $386.66 | $3,199.36 |
| 72 months | $331.46 | $3,864.96 |
