3. What the site does not collect

The site never asks for, and has no way to receive through its pages, bank account or card numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, login credentials, loan application details or other financial information. We do not sell personal data, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

4. Data collected in detail

Technical request data

The site is hosted by Namecheap. As with any website, the hosting servers automatically process your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the time of the request and the referring page, in order to deliver pages and protect the site against attacks. These server logs are kept only for as long as the hosting provider retains them for operational and security purposes.

Cookies, analytics and advertising technologies

The site currently sets no cookies and does not use analytics tools, advertising tags, tracking pixels, embedded videos, social media widgets or third-party fonts. If this changes, this policy and the cookie policy will be updated first, and optional technologies will only run after you give consent where consent is required.

Arriving from a Google ad

FUSION TECH promotes the site with Google Search Ads. When you click an ad, Google may add a click identifier (such as gclid) to the page address. Like any other address, it can appear in the hosting logs described above; it is not used to identify you. Your interaction with ads on Google is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Emails you send

If you email us, your email address, name (if given) and message are used to reply. Email is provided by Namecheap Private Email. Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, unless it is needed longer to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation. Please do not send sensitive financial information.

5. Who receives data

  • Hosting provider (Namecheap), which processes request data on our behalf.
  • Email provider (Namecheap Private Email), used to receive and send email.
  • Authorities, if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Data is not shared with Listerhill Credit Union or any other financial institution.

6. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, it is protected by an adequacy framework or by Standard Contractual Clauses offered by the provider.

7. Your rights

EEA, UK and Switzerland

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object to it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

United States residents

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of its "sale", "sharing" or use for targeted advertising. Plain Ledger does not sell personal information and does not share it for targeted advertising. You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights, and you may use an authorized agent.

How to make a request

Email privacy@readplainledger.com. We may need to ask a few questions to confirm the request is genuine, and will respond within the time the applicable law requires (one month under EU/UK law; 45 days under most U.S. state laws).

8. Children

The site is intended for adults researching financial topics. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email privacy@readplainledger.com and it will be deleted.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and has no user accounts, forms or databases. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but keeping data collection minimal is the strongest protection available.

The site links to external websites, including Listerhill Credit Union's official website, the NCUA and the FTC. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave this site.

11. Changes to this policy

If the way the site handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised before the change takes effect.
